{FICTION}

Hell Hath No

The most recent short fiction I wrote, for a class last semester.  Like most of my short fiction, it's dark and vaguely unsettling.  Unlike most of my short fiction, it borrows heavily from Neil Gaiman.  I apologize.

Sky Diving

A very short piece I wrote in high school.  I think it's effective for what it is.

My Third Grade Education

By now, you should be getting the idea that I can't write happy fiction.  This one, circa late high school, I actually like.

The Serpent's Legacy

This one is interesting for two reasons.  First of all, contrary to what I said above, it also borrows heavily from Neil Gaiman.  Secondly, it contains oblique references to the universe I had created for my comic book characters back in the day.  Any reference to Immortals refers to that.  Someday, I'll take the time to type out the whole complex mythology I had created.  This one is from early high school, either freshman or sophomore year.

Rain on a Wednesday

This one is especially noteworthy, because it was the first thing I ever completed, and also my first published work (Simultaneously with the DMV play) in the premiere issue of the Mindscapes literary magazine.  You can see the elements of my later fiction in it: Little kids, a dark tone, all the stuff I abandoned when I stopped writing prose.  Still, I think it's held up pretty well considering I wrote it either freshman or sophomore year or high school.
