Sky Diving

It was Leroy's first time sky diving.  He was truly enjoying it.  He enjoyed the wind rushing past him.  He enjoyed feeling like he was flying.  He enjoyed forgetting all his problems, if only for a moment.

Leroy could almost imagine the surprised faces of his friends when they heard about what he had done.  Leroy was not the kind of person to do this sort of thing.  Not that his friends would know that about him.  Leroy's friends were distant, at best.

A surprised couple in the suite on the thirty-sixth floor stopped their frantic love making as they noticed Leroy sky diving past their window.  Leroy congratulated himself on a job well done.  That relationship, any relationship, could only lead to hurt.

People were gathering on the ground now.  Leroy pitied them.  They weren't flying like he was.  They weren't escaping from it all.  As he continued his descent, past the couples and the businessmen looking on in horror from their hotel windows, towards the fascinated crowd below, Leroy caught sight of a woman.  A beautiful woman.  Somewhere, far off in his mind, he dimly thought that she seemed like the kind of woman whom he could be happy with.

It occurred to him that this might not have been the greatest idea.

The ground filled his field of vision.
